Instruments

Prussian Blue:

This instrument was built loosely in the Ruckers style in 2023/2024. It’s choir is 1×8, 1×4, buff stop. Octaves are 6 1/2 inches. The keyboard transitions from 415/440; 51 keys with Katalox heads/tails on the natural keys and Micarta sharps. Cherry jacks with holly tongues; Delrin plectra. Matching bench and music desk included. Parchment rose imported from England in gold gilt. Douglas fir soundboard with transfer decorations. This instrument now belongs to a private collector who has taken up harpsichord playing later in life.

In Progress: Prussian Blue 2.0 China Red

Prussian blue 2.0 is the same style as the original Prussian Blue, but with a few exceptions. The keyboard is Bolivian Rosewood heads/tails and will not transpose. 1×8 choir, buff stop. Custom Prussian Blue color to match a sample (likely Colonial Williamsburg colors), trim off white/stone color. Douglas fir again for the soundboard (Annapolis spruce is all bought up by boat builders).

Next up will be to add moldings as well as build the jack rail.

Well, it’s been a while since there’s been an update. But, the instrument went a different direction and ended up not being Prussian blue. Instead, it is Colonial Williamsburg China Red. Here’s some pictures of the final color:

Soundboard:

Well, I was able to acquire Sitka Spruce. Here’s some soundboard detail:
